LaGuardia Airport\u2019s (LGA) Terminal B<\/a> recently won the 2018 World Architecture News (WAN) Award for “Future Projects: Transport.” The new 35-gate terminal is part of a larger $8 billion, 2.7 million square-foot revitalization project that will significantly enhance the passenger experience at one of the busiest airports in the country.<\/p>\n

LGA opened Terminal B’s first 11 gates to the public earlier this month. The 250,000 square-foot concourse now includes a state-of-the-art design, with floor-to-ceiling windows and an indoor park, as well as more comfortable gate areas with multiple charging stations, a private nursing room, family-friendly restrooms, and more modernized customer amenities and dining options. According to New York YIMBY, upon its completion, the terminal will have “dual pedestrian bridges over active plane taxi lanes<\/a>, and views of the Manhattan skyline with the help of a connecting main departures and arrivals hall that will open in 2020.”<\/p>\n

As LGA has long been ranked among the worst airports in the US, several reviews of the new concourse express a positive outlook for LGA’s future. According to Governor Andrew Cuomo, the airport’s transformation will provide travelers with a “global gateway that is worthy of the State of New York.”<\/p>\n
