The bridge, which connects Staten Island to New Jersey, underwent a major renovation to raise the roadway approximately 64 feet to allow larger ships that use the Panama and Suez canals to pass under to reach local ports.<\/p>\n<p>Part of the renovation included a new cashless tolling facility, which will utilize both mailed tolls and EZPass.
