(Arora) was included in the November 2021 issue of Airport Improvement Magazine in an article entitled, <a href=\"https:\/\/airportimprovement.advanced-pub.com\/?issueID=63&amp;pageID=26\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cReagan Nat&#8217;l Opens Two New Security Checkpoints.\u201d<\/a> The article discusses the opening of two new security checkpoint buildings at Reagan National Airport (DCA). The $269.8 million project was designed to heighten security at airport and to improve the screening experience for passengers and TSA officers.<\/p>\n<p>The new 100,000 square foot checkpoints, located in the airport\u2019s iconic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aroraengineers.com\/project\/ronald-reagan-national-airport-secure-national-hall\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Secure National Hall<\/a>, expand TSA\u2019s screening operation from 20 to 23 total lanes, with the ability to expand to a total of 28 lanes. Screening operations were relocated, and the new facilities engineered to create a seamless, free-flowing environment between Terminal B\/C and the new 14-gate concourse. The checkpoints offer sufficient room for TSA equipment and includes an area for passengers to recompose themselves after being screened. This not only increases capacity but ensures a comfortable space and experience for travelers.<\/p>\n<p>The Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority (MWAA) funded this project. The checkpoint improvements are a key part of Project Journey, a $1 billion multi-year capital improvement program designed to transform the passenger experience at DCA. Project Journey also included the construction of an enclosed $391.5 million regional aircraft concourse that will offer passengers greater connectivity, more shopping and dining options, and a more gratifying post-security space.<\/p>\n<p>Arora was proud to be part of this project serving as a member of the joint venture team identified as AIR Alliance, comprised of AECOM and PGAL for MWAA&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aroraengineers.com\/project\/ronald-reagan-national-airport-secure-national-hall\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Secure National Hall<\/a> at DCA. Arora&#8217;s overall scope of services for AIR Alliance included <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aroraengineers.com\/expertise\/disciplines\/mechanical-and-plumbing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Plumbing<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aroraengineers.com\/expertise\/disciplines\/fire-and-life-safety\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fire Alarm and Fire Protection<\/a> engineering services for the Secure National Hall Project. Arora was also responsible for conceptual design services integrating renovated space in the Secure National Hall and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aroraengineers.com\/project\/ronald-reagan-national-airport-terminal-b-c-redevelopment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New North Concourse<\/a> connector with the existing systems and technology at DCA.
